Taxi!
This is just too cool. Google labs has extended its mapping technology to include real-time taxi locations for participating cab companies in certain locations. Find your location and watch as the cabs zoom by ready to pick up travellers. Im in a good position here in downtown DC because I am right next to the National Mall and Capitol at the Holiday Inn on C Street SW.
I dont know how useful this technology would be at 2am after the bars are closed unless youve been spending your Friday nights at a wired coffee shop. Even more advanced web enabled phones will have difficulty because of the technology’s heavy usage of Javascript. Its still cool as hell, and I will try to take as much advantage of it as I can. Has anyone tested this with the Treo650 or any other advanced PDA?
Google maps doesn’t work on the Treo 650 because of the javascript (with the built in browser - Although I don’t know of any other browsers for it…)
