Frustrations With Ignorant Designers
I think usability has become one of those things that everyone thinks is a great idea and is willing to try, but dont necessarily “cut it” when it comes to analyzing and evaluating and interface.
Let me just say for the record: WindowsXP has never been a good example of a usable and intuitive interface. Therefore you should not be using it as an interface example. Eyecandy does not make an interface more usable. If you cant think of a good reason why one way may be better than another way then its probably not the better way.
I would like to take a poll of how many people on the kde-usability mailing list have actually looked through the HIG or have had previous experience or education before creating or commenting on an interface. I am certainly not the most experienced usability analyst, however I have more experience and training than most people participating on the mailing list.

Well, obviously every John Doe and Grandma Smith who may wind up using KDE knows what a “session” is as far as technical jargon. I mean, when my mom logs into her computer, she always says “I’m beginning my computing session now.”.
What a fucking putz.
On a side note, you might have made a big mistake by announcing that you were a female on that list. Now in addition to having to deal with a bunch of bone-headed user interface coders, you’ll now how to deal with a bunch of drooling, horny, bone-headed user interface coders.
Comment 1: My argument exactly in a supporting post.
Comment 2: I seriously doubt it. the worst that can happen is they disregard my suggestions because I am not male. This wont be too big of a problem because most of them cant support their arguments very well.
