Frustrations With Internet Explorer

I have been working on a new style for my weblog, but IE isnt playing very nice. Besides rendering CSS in a non-standard way, its just a crappy browser with crappy defaults and crappy ways of displaying things.

Here is a preview of my new style as I work on it. Ive trashed the stylesheet probably three or four times so far, rethinking how I want to go about doing things. Starting from scratch is much cleaner than trying to “fix” a broken style.

And for those of you who use Windows(tm) and still use Internet Explorer? Go download Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape or Opera.

Upcoming Conventions (non-Political)

Yesterday I finally got my copy of ACM SIGCHI’s Interactions after missing the past three issues from address changes. I havnt finished reading it yet, but its nice to catch up on what research and industry are focusing on.

It also includes a list of upcoming conventions to which I am interested in attending:

Google Fun

Elwing mlp’d this link to Google Holiday Logos. Its a neat little archive of all of their holiday logos from their inception in 1999 to the winter logo for 2004.

BTW.. theyre hiring!

Spammers and the New Frontier

So today (so far today..) I get six spams on my weblog from someone who calls themself “online poker” using an email “lilo@suddenenlightenment.us”. They wernt even “spammish” messages, but the URLs pointed to online poker sites. Yeah.. well here are the IP addresses the spammed messages came from so you can block them on your blogs:
